ChromAir* Badges

Produces immediate, on-site results. Badges are highly sensitive and selective and color change is easy-to-read. Exposure data read directly from the badge. Immediate response for short-term exposure measurements as well as full-shift measurements. The ChromAir monitor provides the user with six exposure levels (the ChromAir mercury and glutaraldehyde badges have five levels). Most ChromAir badges indicate from one-tenth to two times the time-weighted-average for an eight hour work period. The scale printed on the badges and color comparators is based on exposure dose (parts per million times hour, ppm/hr; the mercury badge scale is in mg/m³/hr; the glutaraldehyde STEL badge is in ppm). To determine the average concentration, the user locates the highest cell with a color change and divides the corresponding dose level (ppm/hr) by the sampling time in hours (hr). For example, if the sampling time is 2 hours and the badge reads 40 ppm/hr, the average concentration is determined by 40 ppm/hr/2 hr. Therefore, the average concentration is 20 ppm.
